Hi. I’m a scientist. Still confused by LOST's series finale? Think there are too many questions left unanswered or that it was purgatory the whole time? Well, I "respectfully" disagree. Send me your questions and I will answer them. I will write in complete sentences and support my answers.

Try not to ask too much about Walt.

How did the magic wheel work again?

As I discussed in a previous post, the short answer is “magic.”  If you’re being as sarcastic as I think you are, then this is a case of “I don’t like the explanation” and not “I didn’t get an explanation.” The show had magical elements since day one when crippled John Locke wiggled his toes. If you’re not satisfied with the fact that a “magic wheel” works in a way involving magic, and you think that this is an unanswered question and that there is more information to be learned on the subject, then I suggest that you look into what the word “magic” means.   But, if you’re an earnest anonymous person (the rarest form of anonymous person) and you’re looking for a little more detail…

The wheel harnesses the Source, or the “Heart of the Island.” The Source is a combination of water, a mystical Light emanating from within the Island, and electromagnetism. It is the source of life, death, and rebirth, and The Island is where it is housed. The radiation of this energy, water, and Light combination is extremely powerful and important, as it clearly has the capability to manipulate time and space. The wheel was built to harness and manipulate the Source’s power. If you’d like detailed schematics of the wheel, then maybe you should go fuck yourself.

Hopefully that helps. If not, then let’s go with “Midichlorians did it.”
